"So you're telling me," Archer began, tone successfully level, reasonable instead of incredulous. "That you want to stay here, to protect your colleagues from the fallout..." Presumably in the form of Shran strangling them, Archer inferred, but wisely did not say. "...If they were to make fun of you?"
Shran gave a slow blink. He was probably aiming for dry, but to Archer his expression just looked tired. Doing a valiant job of hiding it, but he had to be exhausted, and in pain, both physical and social.
"That is one reason, yes."

(After the unfortunate antenna-slicing incident, Shran could use some rest, relaxation, and discretion. He comes to his new friend. Yes, definitely-maybe friend. It's a start.)
