“I…” Harrow was so over this interaction and how it was opening a pit in her stomach. Being mean hadn’t even been her intention, it just always seemed to happen.
She took a few steps back, feeling small, “I’m going back inside now, join us if you want or stay out here playing with your wood for all I care.”
Returning to her hometown was something that Harrow had never planned to do for many reasons, one of which just happened to be a certain obnoxious redhead who she'd always had a contentious relationship with. But when she inherits her family home after her aunt's death it's her best option to get out of a bad roommate situation.
It's hard to completely avoid someone in a small town, and Harrow quickly finds that maybe that isn't a bad thing. That maybe the place (and person) she'd spent so long running from could actually be what she needed all along.
