    Summary

The first time Galahad realized something was wrong, he was only 3.

His skin ached to be covered in mud like the other boys, to wear what they wore, to speak how they spoke. When he was told to watch his tongue and talk like a proper lady, his heart burned as well as his eyes with his rage.

Galahad has known he was a man since he knew what being a man was, and while he accepts this part of himself, he knows others won't.
-- How Galahad lives with being a man born different in the middle ages, and how Tristan may fit into that.

    Summary

“You seem very particular this morning, Adam.” Hannibal says almost conversationally, crouching down in front of the chair Will’s seated at.

Adam squeals, kicking his tiny socked feet wildly and flapping his hands at his sides. Adam seems to think that Hannibal is endlessly entertaining and amusing, which Will’s fairly certain has gone to his head.

“No?” Hannibal asks, tickling the underside of one of his chubby legs. “Just for your mama, then?”

“Always just for me,” Will grumbles around a swallow of coffee.

Hannibal flashes him a toothy grin, and Will hides his smile behind his mug.

    Summary

It was said that only pure-hearted virgins could tame unicorns. At an abbey such as Galahad’s, virgins were in no short supply, but the bright, white beast approached Galahad and rested the soft flesh of its muzzle in the palm of his hand.

His eyes raced up to the gleaming tip of its single horn, which shone in the sun like a prism, casting bands of colored light. When the creature dipped its head, Galahad took the invitation to feel it, certain of its sharpness. He ran his palm over its great, strong neck, and then threaded his fingers into the silk of its mane.

“I do not know how to ride,” Galahad confessed, but the unicorn insisted with a few tosses of its head.

    Summary

Come nightfall, the boy’s stance had developed a bit of a falter, but he had no complaints. He sat by the fire, one knee drawn up, and Tristan knew that if he shifted just an inch, he’d flash the lot of them. Something had to be done. Otherwise, the skirt would be nothing more than a belt by morning.

If that were the case, he’d beat the boy with it.
