Another few years later, Emu Hojo and Saki Momose take up the roles of Ex-Aid and Brave respectively, joined by the former doctor Taiga Hanaya as Snipe. Jungo wants nothing more than to make up for his friend's death, wants nothing more than to see his friend again. Things have a funny way of working out.

After losing one of Kuroto Dan's games, Emu Hojo feels himself disappear, and wakes up in a hospital bed. Only, he's decades younger and there's a familiar voice in his head, declaring that they have to change the ending of the game. Emu's memories are fuzzy, though, so it's up to Parad and his own sense of deja-vu to guide him in this new run of the game - new game+, maybe? Together, they hope to change the future and make a new ending. But that's easier said than done, especially as their changes mean they won't always know what to expect.

Finally, things are well. As well as they can be. Now the problems that they all face are much more... mundane. Kuroto and Dr. Yaotome work to restore the Bugsters who were once human to be humans again, and to find a way to bring back those who had died to Game Disease. Between his relationships with the other Digi Destined, his relationships with his parents and his brother, and something from his past nipping at his heels, Ken worries he might drown in it all. Who is the Digimon Emperor and why is he doing this? Why was Ken chosen to return to the Digital World?
Why, when the darkness reaches into his heart, does his neck hurt?
Meanwhile, Kari Kamiya and TK Takaishi return to the Digital World, now joined by Yolei Inoue and Cody Hida, faced with the terrible threat of the Digimon Emperor, a human like them and not a Digimon. They're joined by Ken, a quiet boy who keeps to himself but seems at home in the Digital World.
And lastly, of course, on the edge of it all, a red cloaked Digimon and a little burning sun stone watch. At least, they're on the edge of it for now, and goodness knows that Sunmon won't let his sister help their dream friend all on her own. Now if only big brother wasn't so over protective... -

Once the mystery begins, Hana finds it impossible to stop, not until the truth is found and restless spirits can be laid to rest.
What is the connection between Akumamenzen and the Deadmans? Or Hana's own connection to the town? What makes Kanata so special?
