Summary
In seven years of coaching, Viktor would have never dreamed that Yuuri would be forced to defend his Olympic title while a global pandemic and a doping scandal are haunting the figure skating world—least of all that he would do so injured. The Winter Games are barely over when an even greater calamity disrupts their perfect little sphere and forces Viktor to decide where his allegiance lies. As Yuuri prepares for the final competition of his life, Viktor thus returns to the place he has not set foot in since he hung up his skates: Russia.
This story is my way of processing the events of the 2022 Beijing Olympics and the weeks after leading up to the World Championships in Montpellier.

Summary
At fifteen, Yuuri Katsuki knew the scent of simmering miso and the sharp sting of ice-rink air. He knew the stifling, humid weight of a Japanese summer and the way that Yu-Topia bustled in the July evenings. What he didn't know—what he wasn't prepared for—was that the pale, iridescent sun, his soulmark, on the inside of his wrist would find its match on the wrist of ultra-celebrity ice skater Viktor Nikiforov.
Viktor revealed the mark in front of millions of screaming fans and the world saw a fairy tale in the making. Yuuri saw a sentence: a brand of impossible expectations. On the screen, Viktor was a god carved from ice and moonlight. In his bedroom, Yuuri was a tangle of ink-smudges, clumsy limbs, and a heart that felt too small for its ribs.
Terrified that the world—and Viktor—will see him as a mistake, Yuuri smothers the iridescent sun beneath layers of athletic tape. He decides if he is to ever stand beside a legend, he must first make himself into something worthy of Victor.

Summary
Victor Nikiforov was on his way to becoming a Living Legend in the sport of figure skating. After hitting his stride and winning back-to-back World Championships, the sport's biggest star was the overwhelming favorite to win gold in his third Olympics on home ice in Sochi, Russia.
But when Yuri Katsuki pulls off the upset victory in Sochi at the young age of 21 and takes the gold, Victor begins to see his world and the people in it in a very different light -- and it turns out they see him differently as well.
No longer knowing who he can rely on and finding he didn't know those close to him as well as he thought, when his skating career falters Victor makes a shocking choice that turns his world upside down in ways he did -- and didn't -- expect.
