It’s not big at all – and if Aaron didn’t know better he’d just pass it off as just a little extra weight on Robert’s lower belly – but Aaron does know better, and it makes him anxious.
“Look, maybe I should go talk to him,” Robert says with a sigh as he lifts one hand up to rub his fingers against his forehead. Aaron bites his lip, and feels his jaw twitch, his fingers curl into a fist at his side.
“Robert – ”
“Just talkin’ Aaron.” Robert cuts him off, holding up one hand placatingly. “He’s not – he’s not gonna do anythin’.”

Summary
When Robert left prison after being falsely accused of trying to kill Aaron and John, he wasn't as forgiving to those who watched him get arrested this time.
Sobbing little sisters didn't get hugs.
Prying ex-mother-in-laws didn't get soft smiles.
Robert was simply done.
That was until he found a wonderful best-friend in Tracy after one too many pointless trips to David's shop and a determined Aaron crashed right back into his life after he got out of the hospital with the goal of getting Robert back.
It's complicated, but it works- and they annoy Tracy and Mack in the process.

Summary
It’d been touch and go, Andy told him when Robert finally picked up the phone, but he’d made it. There hadn't been much else to say given the resentment still clinging to them at the time, but Robert had taken annual leave and headed back to Emmerdale, sat around the kitchen table as Vic cried on his shoulder and Diane fussed and Annie called from a bad connection in Spain, and braved himself to see his dad for the first time in three years.
In typical Jack Sugden fashion, he’d barely reacted to Robert’s presence, taking it as a given, and Robert had bitten his tongue and tried not to scream.
[Or: Robert's home for the weekend, which would be fine if they were a normal, healthy family.]
