    “Oh! Why doesn’t Ed—er, Blackbeard—help you? Seeing as he’s not doing anything else,” Lucius interrupts, gesturing up towards Ed before nestling farther under Pete’s arm.

    At the mention, the group all turn to look at him. Ed blinks down at them, somewhat taken back by the audacity. For one, he very much is doing something, thank you. Even if all that something happens to be is smoking off the quarterdeck and trying very hard to look like he’s not paying attention to the lesson occurring below.

    He takes the pipe out of his mouth. “Excuse me?”
