Summary
He feels trapped, claustrophobic, like he could, at any point, drown in the mass of pulsating flesh that is Takumi.
Goosebumps ripple all over him, and his head spins, dizzy and distant, and squeezing his eyes shut doesn't change anything, because his world is already as dark as it's going to get. Eito wonders, is this what connection feels like? This strange, frightening, foreign thing mutating into a vibrant chorus in his chest? It feels as though it's going to devour him.
The more terrifying fact is he knows he's going to let it.
Eito bleeds out his hate towards the SDU. Something else must take its place.

Summary
His eyes are an immovable gate, barring him from the rest of the SDU. The wreckage left in the wake of the truth had granted them a freedom to form new bonds, real ones, but even in reaching for them, Eito cannot grasp the strands. Their connections elude him, just as unknowable as they've always been.
The tension is going to throttle him. Something has to give, and Eito has decided what it needs to be.
—
Eito receives a visit on the night he intends to irrevocably alter his world.

Summary
“Fucking—shit!” Ed yells, flinching away from the little monster with enough force that he nearly capsizes the rickety old rowboat.
Water splashes, the dinghy’s nose flies into the air, and Ed hastily grabs the gunwale and lurches his weight forward to keep the damn thing upright. By the time he’s done that and the boat’s settled back to calm, he’s lost track of the fucking spider.
—
Ed goes out fishing only to get stuck on his dinghy with a spider.

“It’s Alma’s birthday today,” he says.
Ed stares at him blankly.
“My daughter.”
“Oh. Shit.”
“Shit,” Stede agrees.
—
Their new life is wonderful, but it would be unreasonable to expect Stede to never think on the family he left behind.

Summary
With the lamplight at his back, Ed’s looming shadow fell large and dark over the tank. Although he was caught beneath it, the merman did not withdraw, nor did he flinch in fear. In fact, the gauzy distance in his eyes seemed to clear a bit as his gaze roved up to meet Ed’s.
In shadow, his irises were as dark as the abyssal sea, and the look in them was pained, but, intriguingly, not at all afraid.
—
A poacher, in an attempt to impress Blackbeard, flaunts a new prize catch: a real, honest-to-god merman.

The mask cracked. Stede’s eyes squeezed shut, and when he opened them again, they shone wet.
“It’s just…” he started with a shudder. “Ed, you can’t expect that we’ll truly be left alone from now on, do you?”
Ed sat up, needing to face him properly. “Why not? No one’s gonna find us here. Not the navy. Not other pirates.”
“Our faces are plastered on wanted posters all the way from here to Boston. We’re not free.”
—
Ed’s ready to settle into happy ever after. Stede keeps waiting for the other shoe to drop.

Summary
It wasn’t that he looked like a bride, suddenly. The dress wasn’t even the right sort for that. He was still a far distinct creature from that demure, bowing little figure he’d once decorated in his image.
But he did look…soft. Rounder. Graceful, kind of. Ed couldn’t remember ever finding himself graceful before in his life.

Ed finds a dress among his and Stede’s engagement gifts.

Summary
“I wanted them to,” Ed interrupted. His pulse had quickened again, distractingly. “I wanted them to kill me.”
Stede fell quiet.
Ed’s heart seized, and immediately he wished he could take back the confession.
He couldn’t have every impossibility, apparently. There was no way to cram the words back into his throat, and so they sat, an awkward weight between them.
“...Do you still wish they did?” Stede asked in a dismal whisper.
Before he could even be sure what was going to come out of it, Ed’s mouth opened to answer.
“No,” he said, and he was almost surprised to find that he wasn’t lying.

Ed’s ‘one last night’ aboard the Revenge, which is really just the first night of the rest of his life.

Ed’s at the door, and that makes it easier. Ed makes it easier. Stede barely hears whatever it is he says in the entryway, he’s too focused, too concerned with turning the hour into something else. Because he can’t stand if all today becomes is the first day he’s taken a life. There has to be more, there has to be something else, he isn’t supposed to feel like this.
—
Stede is trying very hard to not think about what he's just done. -

“Are you alright?”
“Oh yeah,” Crowley drawled. “Never better. Peachy, even.” The last bit came out like a hiss. “C’n I come in?”
Muriel hesitated, considering him.
You have to understand—they weren’t meant to like Crowley. In fact, they weren’t even meant to be speaking to him. It was an order given straight from the Metatron as a part of Muriel’s bookshop-keeping assignment.
…But that proximity they’d shared just a month ago must’ve allowed a certain amount of his rebellious nature to rub off on them, because Muriel sort of liked him anyway.
–
A drunk and heartbroken demon arrives on the doorstep. Muriel decides to forge a friendship.

Summary
In the fleeting speck of eternity where Crowley’s mouth laid upon his, Aziraphale’d known in the utmost certainty what it felt to drown in the center of a star.
A sensation of burning and a searing clarity and a sudden and total breathlessness. The sense of having gotten something impossible, everything he wanted, and yet the chasm of yearning Aziraphale had been so carefully treading across the past few years fell a new hundred miles open, because it should never have been like this, desperate and suffocating and near painful.
–
Aziraphale, a first kiss, and a certain amount of cognitive dissonance.
