Summary
Rook doesn't understand why everyone in the Veilguard talks to everyone else, except for him. With Emmrich's arrival, things change and Rook's infatuation begins, challenging the Mortalitasi to follow either desire or duty. Emmrich is reluctant due to the years between them and struggles to deal with the reality of what that means.
This is not an easy romance, where things go accordingly and all the pieces fall into place. Sex, love, and relationships can be difficult and require time, continued effort, and no shortage of work to make things last. Balancing this during what may be the end of the world doesn't make it any easier. Rook wants to try, but does Emmrich?
