Rob gave a small shrug. “It’s… been a long day.”
That was an understatement. Somehow — why was he even trying to kid himself, he had no doubt that Gumball was the one responsible for this — Mr. Small had discovered the truth behind Rob’s home life.
The teacher had spent the entire day practically hunting him for sport. By the time nightfall had finally set in, his morale had been worn down to dust, alongside his energy. He simply collapsed into an exhausted heap on the street, allowing Mr. Small to essentially kidnap him — he scooped him up in his arms and headed back towards his van.
“Ohhh, yeah, probably! Good cardio day for both of us, though huh?” he laughed once more. “But aren’t you glad you finally realized that I’m just a good Samaritan looking out for the poor, struggling outsiders in society?”
His single eye twitched. “...For my sanity, I’m going to pretend you didn’t just say that.” A deep sigh escaped him as the van came to a complete stop. “Let’s get this over with.”
“Woohoo! I’m digging your enthusiasm, buddy!”
