Summary
Dusk comes down like a held breath and Geto Suguru chooses a different edge. The village lives. The phone call goes to Shoko, not Satoru. He walks away shaking and, for the first time since the Star Plasma Vessel, goes home—where soup tastes like metal, where his mother’s hand finds the old circle at his temple, where he realizes the work is turning him into a blade he can’t survive being.
Back at Jujutsu Tech, Gojo Satoru opens an unlocked door and finds a room that’s wrong in the smallest ways. His Six Eyes catalog the absence; his body sleeps only when it smells like Suguru’s shampoo. Shoko prescribes seventy-two hours and triage honesty. Satoru leaves a dozen voicemails; Suguru sends one text: I’m safe. We’ll talk later.
It feels like a promise and a goodbye all at once. They break the way stars do—far apart, still burning toward the same dark.

And some shit—you know, about how—I don’t want to lose you again. That I want—need you around.” His tone dips, a low and fragile thing. “I really missed having you around, Suguru, you know.”

“I’ll talk to them, wait here.”
He makes a face when Suguru follows him anyway, which is stupid. They have had this conversation at least ten times this past month.
“Geto,” he snarls.
“Satoru,” Suguru replies, because he is not going to start calling him by his last name now. It’s frankly ridiculous, no matter how much Satoru insists on doing it.

Bad, depraved, this is too much, even for me. He wants to say, because fucking your ex best friend is one thing, but making him cry and shake like this is another. Suguru didn’t think he had any limits left when he decided that he was past saving, that he would rather be a monster than ask for help, but turns out he does have some.

"I'm sorry." Suguru says, for all the wrong reasons "I know it's been awhile-" Eight hundred twenty nine days "I hope you still like the mochi off of Takeshita."
He does still like them, but suddenly, the thought of tasting the sweets makes him feel like he might throw up- throw up blood or throw up a curse- either way, something foul and rotten that would coat his pristine tile red and coax Suguru to hold his head as he retches.
He only looks up from the bag, though, one eyebrow raised, probably obscured by the bandages.
"I'm on strict orders to kill you on sight." He says, and Suguru smiles.

They're not seventeen years old, and Satoru isn't scared to lose him. He's lost him. He feels like he looses him all over again every morning he wakes up cold: there's nothing to be afraid of, now that they're kissing in this imaginary apartment in their imaginary future– all lines have been crossed. Whatever happens, Suguru is walking out of here with mussed hair and with pieces of Satoru's pulsing blood muscle still stuck in his teeth. So he might as well reach behind himself and tug at his shirt collar, bare his chest and hope Suguru bites into it.
