Summary
Sky shouts and there’s hands on him, pulling him up, urging him along, but Legend points his mind toward the shield above them and keeps it there. He tries his best to mend the holes, to nudge his magic where it’s needed most; it’s cooing at him, worrying over him, over his heartbeat, over how much he’s already gone over the limit.
The vet mentally soothes it as he distantly feels his legs give out.

Summary
The floor creaks again as Warriors straightens a bit, hands up and in front of him, eyeing the blade in Legend’s hands and keeping his distance. There’s a slice across the Captain’s cheek, lines of maroon dripping down. There’s blood on the vet's dagger.
There is a moment of stillness as his scattered mind connects the dots, and then Legend hears himself yelp and drop the blade like it had burned him.

Summary
Too many things. Too many noises, too many movements, and he doesn’t notice the presence just outside his bubble. He briefly hears Warriors yell over the disarray, shout his name in a volume that cracks his voice. Movement among a sea of movement, a tail emerging from the riot of claws and scales. It’s heavy and it goes for his face; it connects.
He feels himself get thrown back into something even harder, the back of his head hitting tree bark, and everything slips away.

Summary
Understanding the language of Legend is an art, not a science; it’s made up of contradictions and careful redirection, hidden behind bitter scowls and year-old layered walls. There are no rules to it, unlike any other dialect, and grasping the meanings of such subtle changes in posture and attitude is a process. A long one at that.
But it’s a language that so obviously wants to be learned, even if it acts the opposite. So it’s a good thing Warriors has extra time on his hands.
