Summary
Sir Roger Wessyng, knight of Anglerre, raised from the ranks after serving his Lord Prince Edmund, finds himself dragged into a secret war that threatens not only the hard fought security of the Haikk system, but the very Ecclesiarchy itself. A fight that has been raged nearly five millennia is now coming to a head over a secret treasure and the true practices of the Imperial faith itself.
But that is just one battle he is fighting among the myriad he has to deal with. Keeping the peace between the Eldar and humanity was never a small task, especially when it involves his beloved Leopards, but as the crusade begins to succumb to paranoia and Inquisitorial oversight, he finds himself and his unit on the brink of destruction from all sides, Imperial, rebel, and Eldar. Not helping matters is his confused romance with the Xenos Anya Syneoch, daughter of a Farseer leading Craftworld Ducaish. This beyond heretical relationship is one he is trying to keep hidden, while avoiding its dissolution for reasons he cannot fathom or understand.
It was difficult enough to survive the battle he was knighted for, and the campaign that gave him glory. What is next will be even harder to come out of unscathed...

Summary
Intent on unlocking the mysteries of an ancient labyrinth in the Underdark, an unprepared band of adventurers, eyes full of hope and naivete, stumble directly into a Mind Flayer colony where they are captured and made thralls. Their wizard, an intelligent and talented man, is determined to be perfect for transformation into a Mind Flayer and is implanted with a tadpole. Yet, this is no ordinary tadpole and the wizard's transformation is no ordinary one. Reborn an Ulitharid, a Mind Flayer of great power and purpose, the wizard dies and Zeldrin is born, a noble among his race, independent of the Elder Brain's influence. Yet, a hint of the wizard remains, a lingering memory. Not enough to take control, but enough to influence a newborn, alien mind more than the Elder Brain might wish.
