    A FANTASTIC modern AU. Hilarious (like it actually made me burst out laughing several times) and features Ellie being the world's coolest mom. A fun series that gets a little serious in the later part but is still so cute and touching, really loved it!

    “We’ve talked about this, Ellie,” her social worker responded calmly. “For the judge to agree to probation instead of jail time, you need to complete 12-weeks of court-mandated grief therapy, and since you refused to do individual sessions, we had to find a group that would take you. Compassionate Friends is the only one with an opening.”

    “But it’s for people with dead kids,” she said flatly. Bereaved parents, was the politically correct term that the website had used.

    Love this AU! Every time Ellie is around David my heart skips a beat, the tension build-up is so real and the mystery (just what is the deal with the food, are all the church workers in on it???) is killing me. I love the creative changes, like the classic line "I'm not her [your] dad" being delivered to someone besides Ellie and Joel already being a little softer because of Tommy's kid, the early dynamic between him and Ellie is a little less hostile than in the show lol.

    One of THE BEST part 2 AUs, a must-read fix-it. Every POV is so fleshed out, the action is dynamic, the torture made me cringe, Shimmer isn't dead, we get a more fleshed out look at the Jackson trio dynamic/chemistry, Abby chapters actually make me sympathize with her (impossible in many other fics).
