It just looked too pathetic to kill, washed up on the same island as him.
Half of its body was missing, for lack of a better term; its eye was bitten out of its socket, claw and teeth marks trailed all along the left side of its body. Sizable chunks were missing from its tail and torso. Its fins were tattered, ripped through like wrapping paper.
Worst of all, the most it could do was wheeze and trill. It would never Sing again. And a siren who couldn’t Sing was as good as dead.
