Lance is married, for fuck’s sake, and Keith being weirdly comfortable with him is not helping at all – not in the slightest.
The light reflects on a piece of silver metal on Keith’s hand as his fingers play with Lance’s.
He zeroes in on it, his breath catching in his throat.
It’s a thin silver ring that sits nicely on his left ring finger, adorned with an even thinner golden band around it, perfectly matching, and mirroring the ring that Lance found on his bathroom counter this morning.
Oh, no way. No, no, no, no. Absolutely not.
This has to be some kind of cruel joke.
There is no way that the person he’s married to in the future is Keith.

Summary
Everyone moved on with their lives after Voltron. Hunk, Romelle, and Shiro worked with the Garrison on diplomatic missions to bring in more allies for the Galactic Coalition. Pidge worked with her family to advance human technology to be on par with other star-faring species. Coran was one of the leaders of New Altea, working on rebuilding and making Altea a galactic hub, just like Earth was becoming. Krolia and Kolivan were elected officials of New Daibazaal, and Keith still worked with the Blades for humanitarian missions. And Lance lived on a farm while he healed. It took five long years, but he was finally finished licking his wounds and grieving, and ready to get back out there. In more ways than one. And it was in thanks largely to Allura. She may have died in his reality, but she existed in another. And they met up in their dreams. Crazy as it seemed, this other Allura became close to him in ways even his Allura hadn't been.
But then suddenly she disappeared from his dreams. And Keith started sending strange messages at about the same time. There was no way this was a coincidence, and Lance wasn't about to let his next dream slip away before he could even try for it.

The chattering picks up again, and Krolia and Kolivan are exchanging a look.
“I’ll go,” someone finally says. Everyone turns to look at the source.
Lance has pulled his hands out of his pockets, but they’re still hanging limply at his sides. He stares straight ahead, not breaking eye contact with the two Marmorites projected above the control room. For a second, no one says anything. Then Hunk starts to laugh.
“Good one, buddy,” he says, snorting a little. Pidge wants to laugh as well, if only to show Lance that he’d successfully broken up the tension. But Lance doesn’t smile back at Hunk, doesn’t even look at him. He’s not joking, Pidge realizes with a jolt.
