Summary
First fic on ao3. Not my first fic ever.
"I... I love her I think, truly. And that night. I got a taste of something. Something that I've been, been longing for. For so long," he says. He's taken a fond interest in the nicks on the coffee table. "But, well. You were... You were there too."
"And I ruined your fantasy?" Max supplies.
Tristan ponders that word for a moment. Ruined. It's decisive. It feels cold, blunt. There's no nuance. There's no specifics. There's no other way to look at the word, flip it, switch it around, turn it into an anagram, alphabet soup, it spells the same thing every time. And it's meaning is as static as the calm waters.
And static is so. Undeniably. Boring.
Or:
Tristan struggles to address his addiction on this (basically) hedonism cruise. Avery's still adjusting to the news of not, in fact, being pregnant after surgery. Also that whole med school thing. And Max is (mentally of course) adrift as he tries to redefine what the hell he's doing.

Summary
A chill runs down Avery’s spine as paranoia creeps at the back of her head. Being this small, this vulnerable, she is extinguishable like two fingers pinching out a candle. Snapped like a toothpick. A meek little blip in this colossal world for titans, gone in the blink of an eye.
She returns her attention to the nutcracker, as it's easier to fret over the fabric than it is to catastrophize about an untimely demise. She straightens out the front of its coat, grounding herself in the mindless smoothing out of wrinkles.
And then the nutcracker’s mouth shifts under her finger tips.
Or:
Avery, Tristan, and Max decide to spend their winter break together, away from The Odyssey in an airbnb. As the snow piles outside and the hour grows later, Avery dozes off to Tchaikovsky's The Nutcracker ballet. Shenanigans ensue.

Summary
I think we're all disappointed with the conclusion of season 1 of Doctor Odyssey.
Let's fix that.
Ideally, the works within this series will build off of and reference each other. If that changes, I'm sure I'll indicate that somewhere.
