“What?”
“The fuck? You think there could be things living inside me? What the fuck?”
“No! That was just the Mindflayer. It was this spider-thing made out of human goop. The demodogs and bats and stuff are just fucked up, hive-minded animals.”
“That's… comforting?”
Steve laid a hand on his shoulder. “We're fine. You're fine.”
Despite what was probably sensible, Eddie believed him.

Summary
When Steve gets blindsided by a migraine, Eddie helps him through it with gentle guidance and soft touches. It’s no surprise when, on the flipside, Steve can no longer bring himself to hide the feelings he’s been harbouring for years and Eddie finds another way he can take care of Steve.
“I’ve got you, baby.” Eddie whispers, and Steve feels the phantom touch of lips on his temple again, only this time he’s certain that Eddie has pressed the ghost of a kiss to his skin. If Eddie keeps this up, keeps calling Steve baby on top of it, Steve might start crying in the state he’s in. It’s either that, or grabbing Eddie by the collar of his shirt and kissing him until neither of them can breathe.

Honestly, there is a small (maybe not that small part) of Eddie that’s expecting to get punched for this, but that’s not what Steve does. Eddie’s pretty sure it’s not loud enough for anyone else to hear, thankfully, over the sound of whatever explosions were currently playing out on the screen in front of them, but Eddie does. A breathy little noise, almost like a purr, when Eddie’s nails just barely skitter over Steve’s scalp.

Eddie's eyebrows shoot up as high as they can go. His heart is beating a rabbit rhythm against his chest. The floor below him crumbling into an abyss. He’s in free fall here, utterly helpless to the onslaught that is Steve’s confession.
Drunk confession.
The reminder does nothing to soften the blow when he feels calloused fingertips on the corner of his eye. “And your laugh lines, I don’t know anybody who has them. Not as deep as yours.” Steve’s fingers drag lower, to his cheeks, and brush against the scars on his jaw. “Has anybody ever told you that you laugh with your entire face?”
OR a reverse 5+1: The one time Steve drunkenly confesses all the things he likes about Eddie and the five times Eddie tries to fluster him with said attributes.

Three days after Vecna, Robin tries to kiss Steve. Tries to be something he deserves. Someone who can fuck him, be with him. Something better, a good person like she isn't. She tries to not be fucked up. Steve doesn't let her.
If only for a moment they are wild and cold, faces up to the unreflective sky, just a boy and a girl holding hands watching the stars as the wind tugs and pulls them, kindly cruel in a way that mends.
Maybe they don’t need anyone else, she thinks, maybe they can stay there until the wind strips them to their bones. She wouldn’t mind dying if it was with Steve.
He turns to her and she thinks he might kiss her but then he’s just holding her against his chest and it feels like such an impossibly mean thought to have about Steve, to even think that he might do that to her, that she starts crying. Sometimes she thinks she doesn’t deserve him and he doesn’t deserve how she thinks about him. He’s just so much good sometimes Robin thinks something must turn for the worst, surely King Steve isn’t all gone, surely at some point he’s going to reveal himself: he was making fun of her the whole time, trying to make her normal.

While Eddie may not have been the most warm-and-fuzzy looking guy in the world, he did have a soft spot.
And when Mike, Lucas, and Dustin showed up to his trailer to play D&D without their cleric, Eddie felt a pang of sadness at his absence. When he had asked Mike about Will’s whereabouts, the little shit seemed both unknowledgeable and uninterested in his supposed best friend.
So that’s how Eddie, after making up some lame excuse about plans with his uncle, canceled Hellfire and found himself venturing into the woods towards Hopper’s cabin.
