Summary
Sophia loves what she does. That is what she’s been working towards– to lead people, to be the one with the right answers and a strong head on her shoulders. To be the one that the company can trust, to be the shield between harsh public opinion and genuine appreciation for the group members.
But she can only shine so bright as a leader before she is forced to dim. Before she explodes, just as any supernova does when it is all alone.
OR
sophia might be the leader, but she will always lean on manon for comfort.

Summary
When Caitlyn first gets into Vi’s car, there’s a thrum that welcomes her; she takes the opportunity to fill the silence from the passenger seat. “Thank you for driving me home.”
There used to be more to that sentence, like “If I had known my parents would be out for work, I would have arranged something.”
Now, she doesn’t bother, because the excuses wore themselves thin long ago, and a transparency began clearing the air between them.
Vi nods, a small acknowledgement gracing her demeanor. “No worries.”
She used to say more, something around the lines of “Practice ends at the same time as student debate for you; it makes the most sense for us to carpool.”
That reasoning was laid out for others, but it stopped existing between them. A lot stopped existing between them over the past month; stone walls of lies were taken down brick by brick, and their naked personalities stared at each other from opposite corners of their worlds, nothing to shield them from each other.
Years, months, days–their history unraveled before them, and they could only hold on to each other in the face of a tsunami that wrecked their sense of belonging: their families.

Summary
“--and it’s made of CHOCOLATE!” Luz squeals, squeezing Amity’s wrist in excitement.
“We had to go looking really hard for that cocoa,” Eda says from her position against the wall, sipping apple blood at 11 in the morning like it was nothing.
“I don’t even know how you managed to get your hands on it,” Luz says, frowning a bit. “If I just knew earlier, I could have asked Mami.”
“Who’s that?” Amity asked, a sneaking suspicion that it’s Luz’s mom running through her mind.
“It’s my,” Luz’s voice hitches, and Amity runs her thumb along Luz’s knuckles, knowing what was coming next. “I can’t–”
But before Amity can process it, Luz is sobbing, Eda is rushing forward to catch something behind them, and King is screeching.
And then everything is splattered in cake.

"Fortnights passed; Enid reaching for Wednesday amidst nightmares and Wednesday pulling her close after having phantom pains of her own. Though not perfect, their relationship worked. And with the comfort of a stable life, Enid forgot about a certain anomaly she came across during her last summer at home.
Nine months later, the anomaly manifested itself in the form of a swaddled newborn child tucked within a basket, soundly sleeping to the sound of nothing.
What an anomaly, truly."

Summary
"The first days of the school year are always hard, without a doubt. Caitlyn has been doing her best to prepare a week in advance, but all her efforts had gone down the drain as of yesterday. The system had given her the wrong student roster and the wrong classroom number, and Caitlyn was left with a brand-new list of curriculums to teach up to 50 7-to-10-year-olds in the makeshift gym.
She had requested a classroom in the 14-to-18-year-old category as a literature teacher."
Or: It's a modern setting, there was a Cold War, and now Caitlyn is responsible for teaching the kids of the next generation everything they need to know.
