(A Kai antihero/villain fic in which he stuck to his original convictions and didn’t ever truly become a ninja. Morro comes along and finds an explosive amount of potential in what he believes is a kindred and powerful spirit. Chaos ensues. A lot of mess and explored dynamics, along with a healthy dose of nuancing current character point I either felt were under-discussed or thought would be fun additions. Hope you enjoy!)

Kai quickly rolled over and carefully worked his cuffed hands in front of him. He practically ripped off the bag, only to be blinded by the sight before him.
Ninjago City. Or, at least he thought it was Ninjago city. It was lit with every color of the rainbow, drowning out the stars above. The buildings all around him were the size of the tallest buildings in Ninjago City, but they didn’t even come close to the tower in the middle of the city.
Where in Ninjago was he?

Summary
The first thing Kai noticed as he stirred from his sleep(was it sleep? He didn’t remember going to bed) was that his bed was cold and kinda pokey.
The second thing he noticed were the weighted warm and cool spots on his chest.
The third thing he noticed was the faint sound of wind…. which was weird because on the Bounty it was usually a lot louder…. same at Yang’s Temple.
Blearily, he opened his eyes…. but instead of finding a ceiling he instead saw the open sky.
Wait, what?

Summary
“Just what are you going to do, Kai?” Zane could do nothing but ask through the comm. The nindroid couldn't see his teammate anymore.
“What I do best,” Kai answered with unnerving confidence. He cracked his neck, warming up for whatever he was about to do that even he didn't think about.
He never did.
And it always worked out fine. They were going to be fine.
Kai had made a promise.
“I'll just fight fire with fire.“
And he was going to keep that promise even if it killed him.
Or: Kai unlocks and provokes something he shouldn't have while protecting his family. His soul gets summoned to another realm while his body stays. Nya and Lloyd start training to save his soul while Cole takes over his crush's body as a ghost in order to keep him alive. He is as you can imagine, taking this very well. While the siblings try to reunite, Cole and the rest of the team discover things about Kai they wouldn't be able to any other way.
Will they be able to rescue their fire master and if they do, will he come back unscathed?
And just what will happen when he finds out that Cole had possessed him?

Summary
The ninja all grieved Zane after his sacrifice.
Kai’s methods weren’t healthy. Fighting away night after night in the pit. Because it should have been him. The thought stayed with him. Consumed him.
He’d wanted it to stop. And it did. His grief left him. But so did everything else.
When the ninja do finally begin to reach out to one another, Kai is gone. And when they seek to find Zane, their brother they thought dead on the island, they find yet another brother they hadn’t known was so far gone.
TLDR: Kai has amnesia during the tournament of elements and ends up working for Chen :)
