Summary
"Four." San says sternly, and then he pushes him again. "This isn't Valorant."
"You don't eat in Valorant." Yunho murmurs. It's probably a good thing that San doesn't hear him. He's still pointedly muttering corrections under his breath when he glances up at the barista. He's beautiful, his skin all perfect. There's a heart-shaped birthmark right there on his cheek. Something in Yunho shrivels a little at the sight of it. How unfair fate is. This man must've done something extradorinary in his past life to win such favor. His eyes drift from the pretty one, who San is greeting enthusiastically, to the other employee.
He's got his back turned, but it doesn't matter. Yunho freezes as suddenly as a vehicle hurtling down the highway does when it strikes a brick wall. He'd know it anywhere— that tuft of hair that sticks out from beneath the man's hat, the way his shirt tag sits flipped up. His height, the shape of him, the way the air around him sits. Yunho would know him in blindness, in death— if the whole world was burning, and all that Yunho could see was his shadow through the flames, he'd know. Mingi. His Mingi, only he's no longer his.

seonghwa knows it; nectar and a bed of poppies for a tired knight.
he’ll paint it if the gods ever let him.
“you can’t sit with him forever.” jongho says. “you’ll scare him. his soul will stay put if you do.”
“let it.” seonghwa responds, knees pulled to his chest. “let him rest a little while longer.”

Summary
San, obviously amused by his friend’s crisis, reaches into the cooler. “Here, Yun. Have a drink. Maybe it will calm you down.” He says, dimples on display as he holds out a Coke Zero.
“Thanks.” Yunho mutters, not looking up until the cold can is secure in his hands. He glances at it, and his face grows impossibly warmer beneath the midday sun.
'Shit,' he thinks. 'This is red, too.'
Or...
Yunho is hyperaware of two things: Song Mingi, and the way that the color red looks when it is on him.

Summary
Song Mingi belonged to the crown.
Not metaphorically, like he felt an emotionally deep connection to it. Not loyally. Not even particularly willingly.
He belonged to the crown in the very literal, deeply inconvenient sense that his blood had been magically bound to the royal family for several generations and therefore he didn’t get a say in the matter.
Which is how he ended up ten days' travel away from the capital in a town so small it barely qualified as a town with only a name, a potential location, and a simple set of instructions: Kill him. Bring proof when it’s done.
But Jeong Yunho is more than he seems, and Mingi's entire existence is about to change.

Summary
“I think there’s some kind of cryptid living in my yard,” Yeosang says.
On FaceTime, Hongjoong is wearing a “Suck my dick, I’m the chef” apron. He looks concerned, pausing his batter stirring.
“What kinda cryptid are we talking here? A yeti or a moth man?”Yeosang decides to ignore the somewhat taunting tone of voice and respond honestly. “I have no idea! I just know all the creatures in my yard keep going buck-wild around this one bush.”
Or: Yeosang retires after 10 years of professional skateboarding after a very televised injury and breakup all at once. He moves upstate to a house where all the animals are...odd. And there's something in the woods that they're all trying to get him to see...

Summary
Hongjoong felt like he was drowning. Sometimes in the loneliness that swept him up like ocean waves, sometimes in the strange feelings he equated to the hues of the paints he contributed to the mural that introduced him to his friends. At first it was just him and Jongho, painting a retaining wall on campus because there was nothing better for them to do. But then another joined, followed by yet another, until eight boys spent their Saturdays laughing together covered in paint rather than going out to drink or party.
Hongjoong found a family, and he found someone to love him when Seonghwa joined their ragtag little group to teach them color theory since none of them were real artists prior to their mural and none of them could decide what colors represented when they meant something different to each of them.
A man for whom colors became the feeling that overwhelmed him, and a man who helped him understand that the brightest colors were never meant to be negative.
