Summary
A hand– pale and shaking– broke through the surface of the water. Without thinking, Ilya reached for it, grabbing onto the arm with both hands and trying to help the person to the surface. A face emerged, spluttering breaths calming Ilya slightly as the person grabbed Ilya with their other hand, using Ilya as leverage to pull himself out of the water.
Wyatt and Bood skated up at this point, both clearly concerned and saying something, but Ilya couldn’t hear them. No, all of his focus was on the man in front of him, soaking wet and shivering in the cold. “Can you hear me?” Ilya asked, hoping that the man hadn’t lost consciousness.
“C-can hear you,” the man stuttered out through chattering teeth. “I’m sorry.”
