Summary
John is looking for a fresh start at life. He begins his journey by getting a job at a small, family-owned Mexican restaurant called Escuella's.
Finally, a man comes to the door. “Can I help you?” he asks through the glass. John fumbles over his words. “Oh, yeah. Name’s John. John Marston.” The man opens the door, leaning against the frame. His expression seems amused as he eyes John up and down. He’s slightly shorter than John, but the way the man was eyeballing him made John feel small and nervous. “Ah, yes. The convicted felon.” John feels his face heat up at that. Shame. “Come on, then.” The man beckons John to follow him inside.

This is an alternate ending where Javier follows Arthur and John instead of Dutch at Beaver Hollow.
It's intended to be read as a part two/alt ending to my other Jovier fic that's in this series, but can be read alone with the caveat that the relationship between John and Javier is many years established by now. And also very emotionally constipated and full of so many misunderstandings it's probably a world record. It's written in the same format with multiple POVs.

“You’re not dying, Arthur. You’re not.” He says each word short and slow, and absolutely certain. “You- are- not.” Speaks them into Arthur’s eyes. Into the universe. Like he can will them into being. And who’s to say he can’t? A woman in his mother’s tribe could make it rain.
“Okay,” Arthur says, smiling. “Okay.”
“You’ll get a second opinion?”
