AU: Blake was damaged, too damaged. Her parents had brought her along on their vacation to Maine out of pity, and Blake could only look forward to a summer of trying to find and put together all of her broken pieces. It wasn't like there was much else to do on the island of Patch. Here, there were only sailboats, lobsters, and Xiao Long Shipyard.
"We don't just build," Yang explained, gesturing to the boat above them. "We fix things, too."

Summary
And then she turns her head. Meets Yang’s gaze. Freezes for a moment. Parts her lips, closes them.
Yang stops working. Soaks the woman’s expression up, lets it run through her veins, releases it with her breath, does it again. Her eyes are golden and Yang wants to hide in them. Her lips look soft and Yang wants to touch them. Her neck is smooth, bare, and Yang wants to paint it. She wants to make art. But how can you make art out of a masterpiece?
Blake offers Yang a brief smile that says "sorry for catching your eye".
Yang wishes it’d said "hello".

Summary
Yang's untouchable; Blake's anything but. The first time they meet can't be the first at all, not with Yang lighting up every billboard on the Sunset Strip and Blake's voice crooning through the radio regardless of the station, not when every motion of Yang's is achingly familiar and every turn of Blake's mouth leads like a staircase. It's Hollywood, and Yang's spent years learning how to get exactly what wants her - Blake's spent years running from it.

Summary
They stay that way for a long time, Catra’s face tucked into Adora’s shoulder, Adora gently cradling Catra’s head. Adora is careful not to hug Catra too hard or make her feel restrained, anticipating the moment that Catra will start to pull away — but Catra doesn’t. She hangs on so tightly it hurts, her claws digging through Adora’s jacket and into her back, latching into her like she did when she was a kitten and didn’t know how much her claws could hurt. Adora tries not to wince, tries not to move a single muscle, worried that if she does the spell will break and Catra will struggle away, appalled at having shown weakness.
But Catra doesn’t let go. And so neither does Adora.

Summary
Catra woke slowly.
Senses returned to her one by one, and the re-acquisition of each came with its own profound sense of regret. There was a coppery, unpleasant smell mixed with the wild scents of earth and sweat. Hearing—well, that wasn’t working too well. All she could hear was a distant ringing and the repeating echo of a deafening crack, trapped within her mind.
Pain, though, that was working just fine.

What do you get when you mix a broken runestone, two injured ex-best friends, and the bottom of a canyon that may or may not be full of things that want to kill you? Answer: a lot of pain, but maybe, just maybe, reconciliation.
