Summary
A follow-up (prequel?) to The Swordsman.
Bronn waved her off. “Yeah, yeah. But it’s true - looks more like his uncle than his father, lucky sod.”
Brienne and Tyrion said nothing, while Duncan Lannister smiled a bright smile and waved his chubby hands at those gathered around the room.

Summary
“You can’t ever tell her.”
“I know.”
“She’ll be in danger if you do.”
“I won’t.”
A pause. “You’ll live amongst the other servants.”
“That’s fine.”
“You’re no longer who you were. That man died in the Riverlands, a traitor to the crown.”
A nod.
The older man stares him down, and turns to leave, the audience over. He moves to the end of the hall, hand on the door, and hesitates. A last call over his shoulder, his voice just a bit softer, kinder, than before.
“Protect her. Like you did her mother.”
The other man swallows hard, tensing at the words. “I didn’t protect her mother enough. But I won’t fail her.”
“Good,” says Lord Selwyn Tarth, and leaves.

“We do this once.”
“I…I know.”
He stares at her, his eyes nearly black. “Just to see what it’s like.”
The heat in her belly rises. She wants to touch him. But not yet.
“Just once,” she breathes, afraid that if she speaks too loud the moment will shatter, and he’ll change his mind.

Summary
Sergeant Jon Snow doesn’t quite know what to make of Detective Jaime Lannister.
He’s heard the stories, of course. No one makes it more than two weeks into the Academy without hearing whispers about that detective, the one who shot Aerys Targaryen in a personal coke deal that went really fucking wrong. The detective that still, despite that major fuck-up-slash-victory, is a member in good standing of the King’s Landing police force, and still swans about headquarters as if he shits gold (which, given his father’s lucrative and extremely dubious business dealings, he probably does).

Loosely based on the film The Departed. -

Summary
“Are you lost, boy? Because you’re a bit too blonde and a bit too tall to be a Volantene.”
The boy looks at him for a long moment, before sweeping his eyes around the room once, as if making sure they are alone. “I am looking for Jaime Lannister,” he says quietly, his face serious and still [and something in the boy’s face then tugs on his memory, though it slips away before he can pin it down].

Summary
“A fr-friend, helping a friend?” she says, nearly whispering, and she can feel herself shivering with want as his fingers keep tracing a line in her skin, drifting lower and lower.
He leans forward, his lips brushing her ear. “Not exactly,” he breathes, and she is done for.

Can something that began broken ever be made whole again?
---------
He blinks away the tears that rise unbidden, unwanted in his eyes. “A man – a knight – can bear nearly anything, if he must. Look without seeing,” he tells her, closing his eyes. “Go away inside. Do you understand me?”He can feel her eyes on him, feel the weight of her gaze. “Yes, but… why? Why would you help me?” she whispers, her voice so soft despite the horrors around her.
His breath stops in his throat, incredulous. “This isn’t help, woman. This is the lesser of two evils.”

Summary
They spend more and more time together as the weeks, and then months, go by. She wants to pretend that she doesn’t know what this is, but she knows: she is his surrogate Cersei, an inoffensive and non-tempting stand-in while he is separated from his cousin back home.
And for her? For her, she gets to pretend; when they are out for dinner together on a Monday night, laughing as they buy the cheapest wine on the menu and get drunk amongst the local families and retired people, she gets to pretend that she is someone’s girlfriend, that she is his girlfriend, and though it is not enough, it is better than nothing at all.

Summary
She’s always known that her mother has two swords.
She asks the castellan one afternoon why knights have more than one sword. He tells her that not all knights carry two swords – he says it’s personal choice, one to be weighed between the advantages of having a second sword as backup should the first be taken from you, and the risk that someone might steal the second sword and use it against you.
“Why do you ask, my lady?” he asks, raising an eyebrow.
“Mother has two swords, Ser,” she says softly, “the one she wears on her hip, and the one she keeps in her room.”
His face clouds then, but he quickly recovers. “Ah, my lady, that is something different."

Summary
He sees anger. Anger and hate and loathing and disgust. He sees in it her eyes, in the hard set of her jaw, in the way her fingers curl in towards the palm of her hand. He sees it in her rigid back, the taut muscles of her neck, the quick flare of her nostrils as she glares at him from the high table.
He sees other angry faces too. New faces, and familiar ones. He heard the whispers when he entered the hall, and he hears them still now, from all corners of the room: Kingslayer.

“Do you know what he calls you? The Ice Man… and the Virgin.”

Summary
He doesn’t say anything in reply, but it doesn’t matter, because he’s sure she can see his answer in his eyes. The last remaining bastion of logic and sensibility in his brain is telling him to reconsider, reminding him that he doesn’t ‘do’ this type of thing (has never actually done this type of thing), but God does he want her (more than he would ever care to admit, even to her).
- Molly returns the favour. (This is a follow-up to 'Frustration')

Summary
She isn’t a fool.
She knows that she is a stand-in for him; she is a replacement for the things he can’t have now that the world thinks him dead. She let him touch her and taste her and she knew that her heart couldn’t [and can’t] take it, but she let him do it anyway, because she’s always let him take anything from her, let him take everything from her.
Maybe she is a fool, she supposes, after all.

Summary
They meet [the first time] at the lowest point of her life.
- Molly and Sherlock have met before. John tells her, offhandedly, about the whole “deletion” thing, the removal of extraneous data. It makes sense, really, that he would remove that memory from his mind, but it stills hurts more than she would care to admit, that he could get rid of that night so easily while she lives with the consequences of it forever. -

Summary
Molly can’t sleep.
He’s been in her flat for 559 hours, day in and day out. It’s heartbreaking and painful and unbelievably frustrating to have him like this in her life, to see him but unable to touch him; to hear him, and yet be unable to caress him; to smell him, and remain unable to taste him. The last thought makes her blush uncontrollably, and even now she remains paranoid that he can somehow see her, that he’ll somehow just know that’s she’s been thinking these things.
-
Molly's got a lot of frustration to work through. Sherlock, being Sherlock, comes up with his own way to help.
