"Ahti likes how you make coffee, by the way," Jesse says, staring up at the ceiling, hands folded behind her head. "How in the world is this couch so comfortable? It looks like someone dragged it in off the curb."
"Aw, does he?" Arish grins. "And I dunno. Most stuff Ahti has a hand in seems to have a bit of... I don't want to say magic, since, you know. Nature of our workplace, and all, but he really does seem to have a good effect on everything he touches. Found it!" He slams the drawer shut with his foot again, moving toward the socket in the wall where he's plugged in the coffee maker he "borrowed" from the break room.
"I wish he was around," Jesse sighs. It comes out tired and sad, which is the exact tone she wanted to avoid.
Arish and Jesse have an impromptu heart-to-heart.

“I knew it. What’s up with you,” Zoro said bluntly.
Sanji slowed his pace to send his crewmate a piercing glare. “Thanks, Marimo, I hadn’t noticed,” Sanji scoffed, voice light but strained. Zoro wasn’t buying it.
“Something's off. You look like shit.”
“I must be taking a page out of your book, feeling careless about my appearance.” Sanji replied easily, making the motion to continue running. Zoro grabbed Sanji by the arm.
“Oi. Quit screwing around, I’m serious. You–”
“Let go,” Sanji said, voice much quieter this time. His voice was still angry, but also had an edge of seriousness that was rarely present during their usual bickering. “I said I’m fine.”

Leon was out of ammo. The realization came slowly to him, as he fumbled in his many belt pockets for some forgotten bullets, even though he knew he always kept track of how many rounds he had left. Pushing the Matilda back into its holster on his thigh, Leon unsheathed the knife in a broad swing, gripping it's handle tightly and assessed his situation. In any other circumstances, an empty magazine wouldn't have unnerved him, but as it was, he currently found himself pressed against the wall of an abandoned umbrella laboratory somewhere in the alpine mountains, the door opposite of him was sealed tightly, due to the sparse remnants of the emergency protocol still intact. Beyond it though, a mass of bodies was throwing itself against the glass, their mangled hands grabbing towards him.
or Leon has to handle more than he is capable of and has to grapple with his own loneliness.
