Summary
At moments like this it was easy for Leon to forget that he and Chris weren’t even A Thing, not really. They were friends, had been for two decades, and for the past years they’d also been having absolutely mindblowing sex together whenever they were both free. But that was it.
Still, Leon’s treacherous heart kept wishing for more, wishing for Chris to look at him like he looked at Chris. He knew that Chris cared about him. So maybe he should just suggest that they actually make it a real relationship. They weren’t that far from it.
“Hey, Chris—”
“Hey, before I forget,” Chris said, interrupting Leon without even noticing it. “I’ve got to cancel next Friday.” When Chris went on, his smile was audible in his voice. “I’ve got a date! Can you believe that? A real date!”

After Chris accidentally breaks Leon’s heart, Leon is fully prepared to nurse his bruised feelings alone. He’s less prepared for the way Piers is apparently dead set on being there for him to help him through it. Leon should be happy, he is the best cadet to graduate from the Police Academy, but he is miserable. However, he still has hope, since he’s going to start his life anew. A hope that is a fading flame.
Carlos is a ray of sunshine, he strives to be because no matter what life brings you, there’s always a reason to smile and be kind to others. He just wants to bring joy, hiding his sadness.
Nicholai is the scum of the earth and he feels no shame. When the world wants nothing more than to drown you in shit, whoring yourself up to the top is the most suitable solution. Anything has a price tag until your conscience knocks on your door like an unwelcome, rotten guest.

Summary
Chris Redfield thought he knew the BSAA had become corrupt. He thought he knew just how far that rabbit hole went. He swore to never let anyone else die under his watch. He was clearly, sadly, realizing he was the one who was out of his depth.
Leon Kennedy thought he wasn't of use to anyone except as a weapon, a blunt instrument to take care of problems most people couldn't handle. He thought he didn't have anything to live for beyond work. He thought he knew the depths of his own need to be wanted. He was wrong, so very wrong.
Everyone thought Albert Wesker was long dead, a figment of the imagination never meant to reach out of the void and cause harm. This, too, was a fool's dream.
