Mali is a vision, exactly as he’s meant to be, with a dizzying amount of skin on display. Normally, outside the house, he teases them with his throat or his forearms, or on the rarest of occasions his bare shoulders. Tonight, he’s in a silver minidress with straps so thin they might as well not be there, all collarbones and thighs and knees pressed demurely together. His knee-high boots would look like modesty if they weren’t so clearly a tease. His eyes are closed, lids glittering, lashes long and pale with mascara, brushing against his cheek. At his throat, tapping against his larynx when he swallows, is a silver choker with a blue glass gem—he insisted that it be glass, but it looks like a sapphire, and will look even more like one in the dim light of a club.
“You look beautiful, sweetheart,” Moryë says.
Moryë, Erzsi, and Chad dress Mali up, take him to a club, and give him some rules to help him behave.

Long before he was Megatron, D-16 was a miner who found solace in writing verses on a broken datapad Orion Pax brought him. They were clumsy, unrefined poems, born from a heart that didn't know how to name the gravity of its own feelings. To D, they were a secret shame; to Orion, they were the most beautiful songs in Iacon.
