The wind blowing in Peter’s hair reminds him of his time swinging through the city, soaring high above skyscrapers and believing he was on top of the world. And maybe he was, when he was saving lives and taking on challenges made for someone twice the hero he was. He was in way over his head, way over everyone’s heads, and he was free.
But Tony flies in a straight line, and Peter doesn’t feel like a hero.

“Oh my god.”
The glass was impossible for Peter to break, but he could still hear through it. He could even kind of hear the voice coming through the comm device in the guy’s ear.
“Buck? Talk to me.”
Peter recognized that voice, but his brain was too fuzzy to pinpoint it. The tests that the scientists had put him through hadn’t been too horrible so far, but the constant triggering of his Spidey sense had overloaded all his heightened senses. It was hard to retain anything through the migraine, as if words were pouring around the sides of his brain and sliding off.
“It’s a kid.”

A teenage boy, his face pale and his eyes impossibly wide. The kid looked like he’d been dragged backward through a hedge, his hair wild and greasy and his clothing disheveled. His face was bruised, and, rather alarmingly, red friction burns circled his wrists.
“I-Iron Man?”
What the fuck.
“You know, I get that a lot,” said Tony, lowering the gun.
Or: in a dystopian AU where Ross won and the Avengers are forced into hiding, Tony is on the fast track to becoming an antisocial recluse full of hatred for the world. But maybe an enhanced teenager stumbling upon their safe house could change all that.

He can still walk in a straight line, which is good.
He’s starving and tired and cold.
It’s been fifteen hours.Or, Peter doesn't take any breaks during a lengthy fight with the Avengers. The mind-melting fever that follows really should have been expected.
