He laid defenseless and broken on the ground, weighed down by the suit of his own design. He was unable to sit up, let alone grasp for the release levers he’d built in. His whole body felt covered in an icy fire, lighting up every nerve ending as he felt the names burning themselves into his back. Steve wore a deep maroon suit. His shirt was a crisp white, contrasting against his dark brown tie and belt. His hair had grown longer than he’d ever worn it and his normal perfectly shaven face featured an overgrown beard. He didn’t expect to be recognized anymore, yet he still ducked his head past the security.
It was the 23rd floor of some big financial building in New York City. The room was packed with ugly old men, bored 20 something mistresses, and business women whose mere glances could kill. Steve leveled his gaze with the faces in the room, moving slowly against the wall. He scanned the scene over and over again, searching desperately. His chest got tighter the more scans of the room he took. Finally, he saw the back of a familiar Armani suit exit a large metal door across the room. He would fix this, fix everything that happened and get his love back. No matter what it took.
