As soon as they make contact, Mydei is struck by the sense that something is wrong.
Not Phainon being so close - no, if anything, that feels right - but it is as if the world tilts and contracts around him. His ears pop and he feels off balance. Phainon says something beside him, but he can’t think straight; all Mydei feels is a surge of … of something. After the World Championships ends and brings their personal competition to a close with it, Phainon proposes another challenge between him and Mydei.
