Summary
Camelot is a strong kingdom, a proud kingdom. It had been the envy of the land for years past under the rule of the De Rolo family. Now, emerging from the throes of war, it once again prospers in a time of peace and growth, but not without cost.
The end of the war came with a devastating attack on the palace citadel by a rogue sorcerer, Delilah Briarwood, attempting to wipe out the entire De Rolo bloodline. Only one prince, Percival, survived the attack. The crown’s ward, Keyleth was also spared, as she had no claim to the throne. Percival, only twelve, was deemed too young to assume the duties of the crown and they were passed temporarily to the kingdom’s head military tactician, a harsh but intelligent woman named Raishan.
We come to the kingdom ten years after this attack, with the city mostly recovered and settled into a new era of leadership, and a new ban on any and all magic.
We follow the story of Percy, the last De Rolo waiting to assume his throne; Keyleth, the crown’s ward, mourning the loss of her city and harboring a magical secret; and Vex and Vax, a pair of twin commoners travelling to Camelot in hopes of finding work and escaping the prying eyes of their hometown.
