Yoichi Isagi told himself these were ordinary thoughts, the kind that visited anyone standing this close to the summit. He told himself pressure was proof of meaning, that doubt was simply the shadow cast by ambition.
He did not yet know that something inside him had already begun to slip —quietly, gently— out of sequence.
In which, Isagi starts hallucinating due to a mysterious neurological disease. His reality is distorted. His vision —once his most polished weapon— is now a puppet to his ill mind. He slowly spirals all while the world sees him as an embarrassment, an insult of a player, a fading star that ran out of fuel; anything but a sick boy who has the weight of the world on his shoulders.
Who would've thought his greatest rival would be the one rearranging his broken pieces into something intact? Will he shatter again? Had he ever been truly intact in the first place?

Summary
Yoichi Isagi cares a lot. He cares about what his coach and hero Noel Noa thinks of his playing style. He cares about the curve of the ball as it flies into the net with ease. He cares about seeing Bachira smile on the field despite playing on opposing teams. One thing he doesn’t care about, though, is his so-called-rival, Michael Kaiser.
In fact, every morning, when they happen to be in the gym at the same time, Isagi tries his best to ignore him. And on their lunch breaks, when Kaiser happens to end up at the same shop Isagi does, he avoids eye contact like the plague. He couldn’t care less about the taller of the two, standing at a whopping 186 cm with flowing blonde hair that really doesn’t help the spotlight on him at all times. Isagi puts it aside because they’re adults. Well, almost. It’s not a big enough deal to make a fuss over.
Still, each time their paths crossed, Michael Kaiser was a beacon Yoichi Isagi couldn’t tear away from. But Isagi didn’t care. Kaiser could drop dead and Isagi wouldn’t bat an eye. That was their reality.

Bastard München is on winter break, and Noel Noa forces Isagi and Kaiser to room together.
