Harrow weighed the probabilities of this all being a figment of her imagination. When she determined the odds were likely in the range of sixty percent, she then took a minute to seriously consider if she cared— if she wanted to risk the fantasy ending by acknowledging its falsehood. Harrow closed her eyes and pressed her fingertips to her eyelids until blotches of color bloomed in the blackness.
“Gideon, can I ask you something?” she muttered finally.
Gideon heaved a long, loud sigh. “Fine. But only because you called me ‘Gideon’ instead of 'Griddle.'”
Harrowhark dropped her hands from her eyes and forced herself to look at her.
“Are you real?” she whispered.

Harrowhark— aching, exhausted, and disorientated— awakens in the Locked Tomb with no recollection of how she got there, or how the Tomb opened. But right now, all she can focus on is this: Gideon is here too, and she’s alive. Or at least— close enough.

Gideon regrets it so quickly adds, “y’know, for the devil incarnate,” sticking to the approved script.
Harrow takes another drink, pretending to be indifferent to this. “Is that your attempt at flirting?”

Mikasa digs in, persistent. “You resigned. Will you go back to Marley?”
“We were supposed to go there together. To Lake Lago. The house.”
She waves her hand vaguely as if to indicate the whole obliterated future, all her silly plans. Mikasa reaches across Armin's desk and interlaces their fingers.
“Don't go there. You’ll be alone. Come to Shiganshina. Stay with me. For the summer at least, or longer. For as long as you want.”
