Summary
Reigen knew his student well. He was awkward and shy, but kindhearted and strong willed when he put his mind to things. He didn't like confrontation, and would rather sit still with an open wound than bother somebody by telling them he was bleeding out – an incident came to mind where he skinned his knee on his way to the office, only telling Reigen once he realized he was dripping blood onto their new welcome rug. Of course, Reigen didn't mind, just sent him home with a bandaid and the reminder to tell him when something bad happens.
On the rare instances where Mob did open up to him, lowering his voice and avoiding eye contact, they were always things more than just a scraped knee or a paper cut (although Mob did start asking for bandaids afterwards, and Reigen got in the habit of keeping them in his desk). He tried not to make a big deal out of their moments and just listened, jumping in with advice where it was needed.
Then, at nineteen, Mob calls him crying, and for the first time, Reigen isn't sure how to deal with it.

School wasn’t really fun anymore. Granted, it had never been the epitome of enjoyable. Shigeo had only recently made friends who made going to school worthwhile. But now, even they couldn’t brighten his mood.
Shigeo was scared of school.
He knew it was unreasonable for him to be scared. Afterall, the situations that made him so frightened of the place hadn’t even really happened. They were fake. They were never real.
