Kalvin grabbed a fig straight off of a nearby tree and bit into it to distract himself from thinking too much. As the skin easily gave way and the honey-flavored juice spread over his tongue, the seeds crunching softly between his teeth, something clenched in his chest as he wondered, briefly, if this was what home tasted like—slightly overripe fruit under the warm summer sun, surrounded by laughter and smiles and a thin layer of dirt.
He considered if these thoughts were what made him human. He still wasn't sure. -

With Toya fully embracing his family and Akito now respecting Mr.Aoyagi and that sense of respect being somewhat mutual, he would be more than happy to have the man's blessing to marry his son. Not only that, but if the Christmas cards sent in the mail being addressed to both of them lovingly by the man's hand were anything to go off of, he was more than certain the man would support their decision to marry and would most definitely say-
"I'm sorry, but I can't allow it."

“A few times. But I’ve only ever read the translations, not the original version.” Toya sheepishly pulled at the stiff collar of his shirt. “I’ve read Hamlet and Macbeth.”
“Good choices,” Rui says with a nod. “Macbeth is a favorite of mine. But I have to say, I quite enjoy his romantic stories.”
What happens when the outcast alchemist falls in love with the beautiful prince?
(Or: Rui tries to drop hints to Toya by writing cheesy Shakespearean quotes on his hand in English. Toya doesn’t get it until An points it out. Everything spirals from there.)
