Now, Lucy... Lucy fit the bill more than anybody else. Louisa had a particular soft spot for Lucy from the start, probably because it was through her own research that the Guild scouted her. She could still remember stumbling upon a mention of Lucy's ability in a newspaper. The Guild used its resources to track down the girl after she'd been released from the orphanage. It was unlikely, if not impossible, that she would refuse to join them. Louisa could never tell if Lucy was truly happy in the Guild, but she didn't regret her actions at all. It was good to have Lucy here. And the two of them got along well, well enough for Lucy to invite Louisa over for afternoon tea. Perhaps it wasn't friendship yet – or perhaps it was a different kind of bond, one Louisa couldn't begin to define.
