“Oh. Uh, yes,” Louisa replied, still absent minded as she took in the rest of her. The tattered clothes, just scraps, really, and the way she carried herself, afraid to even move. Her arms were wrapped firmly around herself, a gesture clearly intended to soothe.
Louisa had done the same more times than she could count.
“Yes to which one?” the girl had added with a laugh.
Her laugh was more musical than the rain could ever hope to be. It was tense and short, clearly dampened by the presence of the woman beside them, and yet Louisa’s cheeks grew warm at the sound of it anyway.When The Guild is destroyed, Louisa finds herself at a crossroads. Her head knows that finding Fitzgerald is the better choice, but her heart sends her crashing into Lucy regardless.

Her brain often gets a bit muddled after using her ability for extensive amounts of time, and she didn’t have a chance to properly recalibrate herself. She can’t exactly explain that to Lucy, though, so she just asks a rather hesitant, “…Why?”

And yet… he still hoped. Clinging to the possibility that there was someone out there. There were so many days he spent reading books about soulmates, how the other is supposed to understand you in a way no other person ever could.

It had a rustic smell, signaling that it had been to many places and read many times before. There was something quaint and nostalgic about it. Why did it tickle her heart? She didn’t know how to explain this unfamiliar warmth that enveloped her chest.
“Don’t ruin it. It’s one of my prized possessions. It’s one of the few things left of my father.” Margaret sternly said to her.
Lucy whipped out of her reverie, hearing Margaret’s somewhat unexpected snappy tone. “Your father?”
Margaret silently closed the glass door, as she wistfully recalled that terrifyingly forlorn day. “…Yes, my dear papa. Got caught in an accident while riding a horse.”
Lucy, who was recently inducted into the Guild, finally has the chance to closely interact with Margaret. A small act of kindness from Margaret changes her world more than she initially realizes.
