Summary
There was another student here.
Tom recognized him vaguely—while transfer students were not necessarily uncommon due to the war, they were rare enough to at least make an impression. This particular transfer student was in his year, sorted into Ravenclaw after an impressively long hat stall. He looked like he might be descended from the Potter line, but he did not share the surname so his lineage was of no particular interest to Tom. Nothing about him was of particular interest to Tom, in fact, and yet here he stood, holding the book that Tom had come here to find.
It would be a good time to turn away. The Restricted Section was restricted for a reason—only books documenting extremely dangerous or extremely advanced magic were stored here.
Tom’s feet, however, suddenly felt as if they were made of lead. It wasn’t magic keeping him tied down, but something far more mysterious like curiosity or even fate. In any case, the delay was all it took for the Ravenclaw to lift his chin and meet Tom’s eyes.
This Ravenclaw, Tom realized, had eyes as blindingly green as the Killing Curse.

It had been little things, at first. Tiny, throwaway moments in time that meant nothing individually, but when considered all together, added up to a great big flashing neon sign above Peter’s head, reading: he’s keeping secrets from you.
Or, in those moments when the doubt became louder in his head: He’s lying to you.
So, yeah. Things couldn’t be going better. Except for the slow, creeping realisation that:
A) Peter was quite possibly the love of his life
B) Stiles was so head-over-heels that he didn’t know how he’d put himself back together if anything ever happened, and
C) Peter didn’t trust him.Or certainly didn’t trust him enough for whatever this great secret was.
And that stung more than Stiles cared to admit.

" “Phoenix—” A despairing scream of the lawyer’s name—his given name, not ‘Mr. Wright’ or a permutation of it that Miles would normally speak within these walls—leaves Miles’ lips, nearly cut short by the way the wind knocks out of him, a result of him colliding into the steel doors. A grievous miscalculation on his end, to not determine how much momentum he’d have, something he can beat himself up over when his mind is clearer. Miles’ forearm stings from the impact, but the man’s adrenaline blocks him from recognizing the pain. “Phoenix?!” His fists bang on the door with hopeless abandon, trembling and tense. It’s loud, too loud, it’s the gunshot all over again, he caused it then and he’s causing it now and he’s losing Phoenix permanently with only a few inches keeping them from each other. Through tears, he screams for Phoenix again and pounds his fists against the steel. The subdued pain in his hands and wrists is secondary. "
Alternatively, Phoenix is stuck in the courthouse elevator during an earthquake, and Miles is left unable to reach him, praying that he won't have to live through a second iteration of fifteen years ago.

Summary
Earthquakes, admittedly, are rare. However, they are frequent enough for Phoenix Wright to have adapted a routine for them. After all, he is engaged to marry a man who is deathly scared of them.
The earthquake rolls in at approximately fifteen minutes after three in the afternoon. Phoenix knows this, because he was welcoming a client into the Wright Anything Agency just as the tremors began.
Phoenix cannot go to his fiancé’s side until after work, due to both the sheer amount of casework this trial carries with it, as well as Miles insisting that he remain at the agency.
Thus, Miles Edgeworth, a man of few emotional admittances, is left alone until Phoenix finds an opening to leave. From there on, it is a rush to make up for lost time.

“I uh... yes.” Miles said after a moment. Saying no might get him kicked out overnight and that was not happening. Apollo and Athena looked to each other but didn’t say anything.
“Well, you and your daughter are welcome to sleep in the extra bed.” The Doctor motioned to the spare patient's bed in the room. “Mr. Wright will have to stay here for about a week. But we can talk about that in the morning. Get some rest. As for you two, visiting hours are over... But I can look the other way as long as you don’t spend the night.” He smiled “Have a good night-” He looked to Miles “Mr. Wright.” and he left them be.
