Summary
Sometimes Goro mumbles his new name into the crook of Akira’s neck. A beautiful name, befitting their new beautiful life. A cat that isn’t Mona climbs into their bed. In some years, they might end up with a beautiful child. They’ve never discussed it but it feels inevitable—it’s written down in their little journey to a life full of everyday divinity.
Because sometimes happiness is hard to find.

Summary
When he opens his eyes, he finds a Lovers card staring at him innocently from the floor. Standing right above it is less innocently looking Goro Akechi. He’s half-naked, much like the card in front of him, looking extremely pissed off, but his cheeks are stained lovely pink, so Akira can’t force himself to feel bad about it.
“What the hell is this?” he snarls. No fake pleasantries, no forced smiles—just pure, unhinged Goro Akechi. Akira would in fact marry him but he doesn’t want to admit Chihaya’s reading might have been correct all along.
Akira gets a Tarot reading. It's not what he expected at all.

Summary
“Did I ever tell you,” Hythlodaeus says. “That I could tell from the very color of your soul that we were going to fall in love?”
“Ridiculous,” Emet-Selch snorts. “I do not doubt your soul-seeing talents, but how could you possibly tell?”
“Trade secret,” Hythlodaeus grins. “Perhaps, if you ever train your sight to be as good as mine, you’ll be able to see it too. You can even become my disciple, oh most eminent.”
“And Azem?” Emet-Selch asks, merely rolling his eyes at the comment. “Could you see it in them too?”
“Naturally,” Hythlodaeus nods. “Azem was born to love us both. To love was the greatest gift we’ve ever received from the star.”
When Hythlodaeus leads, Emet-Selch always follows.

Summary
The words such as irreversible brain damage, spinal cord injury all went over Akira’s head. He barely listened to the doctor with eyes fixed on the small figure on the hospital bed. He couldn’t help but think that Goro finally looks peaceful. The disgusting part of him thought it might be for the better.
Better. That’s when it dawned on him.
Goro Akechi would never get better. Goro Akechi would spend the rest of his days confined to a hospital bed.
In January of 201X, Goro Akechi is found again.
In January of 201X, Akira Kurusu's life ends.

“You’re in love with the guy,” Makoto says slowly to make sure the words really sink in. “Who wrote a hateful comment on a fanfiction website under your omegaverse fic.”
Ann lets out a dreamy sigh. “And they say romance is dead.”

Summary
“You’re pretty diligent yourself,” Akira points out without a hint of emotion. It feels like even taking a deeper breath might cause something deep inside him to snap, so he chooses every word carefully. “And you’re a great student.”
“Yes,” Goro crosses his legs, leaning back on the bed just slightly—like he’s hoping to pull Akira along by an invisible rope. And there it is—the smile, barely lifting the corner of his mouth, like the little game he played barely brought him satisfaction. “And I very much hate to be distracted.”

Summary
Zhongli can easily imagine a different reality with Xiao dancing gracefully among the clouds, with a careless laugh more befitting Barbatos than it does the Conqueror of Demons. A reality where Xiao could be a gentle breeze rather than a terrifying storm.
Xiao deals with changes. Zhongli writes love poems.

Summary
Akira never expected he would end up having a soulmate. He never expected to fall in love with his would-be murderer, and even with his expectations already so low, he never realized that having a soulmate would turn out to be nothing but a heavy chain around his neck, dragging him towards the bottom.
But most of all, he never imagined that having a soulmate would turn out to be so painfully lonely.

Summary
“I’m not someone you can bribe with flowers and empty flattery,” Xiao replies coldly. “I have no reason to help you. My loyalty lies with Rex Lapis. What makes you think I’ll lift my finger to help you achieve some meaningless result? Do you really think I’m a merciful spirit?”
“Merciful? Far from it,” Albedo says with a small smile. “That’s why I want you to kill me, Adeptus Xiao.”

Summary
“A sunflower from another world,” he muses, meeting Aether’s eyes. “What could it possibly gain from travelling to the edge of another world?”
Aether looks away, gazing at the sky for a long time before answering. “Maybe it wasn’t satisfied with the sights it saw back home.”
“Sightseeing?” Albedo can’t help but smile. “Is that good enough of a reason to travel across the galaxy?”
“I’m sure it traveled further distances for less,” Aether teases, looking back to Albedo. “Besides, some sights are simply worth seeing.”
(When a strange flower falls from the sky, Albedo can't help but think it reminds him of someone.)

Summary
Akira freezes as a soft jazz tune rings through their mostly empty apartment.
(The singer paints a picture of snow so realistically that Akira half expects to find a dream-like winter wonderland right outside his window. Instead, he finds grey concrete and flickering lights of a city whose name he’s long forgotten.)

Summary
“Do you know who speaks Latin?” Akira asks, not waiting for Goro’s answer. “Dead people. There’s a reason for that too—maybe it should stay dead. I get it, you get off to being smarter than everyone else, but for the love of the almighty god, can you at least not quote Latin at the breakfast table when I’m absolutely hungover and can’t even think clearly in Japanese?”
Goro takes a sip of his coffee, seemingly calm, but Akira doesn’t miss the way his fingers grip the cup—frankly, he’s quite surprised the delicate porcelain is still intact. “To be fair, you always found it hard to think in Japanese or any other language for that matter. And that hangover is your own fault.”
In which Goro Akechi is a disaster and Akira Kurusu is his obnoxious roommate.

Summary
“I’m going to take care of you,” the boy says, and he sounds so confident that for a moment, the crow believes him too. “I won’t let you die, Mr. Crow.”
The first time the crow dies in Akira’s hands, it makes a promise. A promise to keep the boy safe from harm, even long after its passing.
The first time Akechi dies, he wakes up in Maruki’s Palace. With his consciousness flickering in and out, he barely recognizes that he’s already become a monster—half-human, half-crow.

“Look at yourself—you’re horny, you’re jealous, and best of all, you’re a filthy murderer just like me. Frankly, you’re all mine to command.”
“Surprised?”
“No,” Akechi chuckles. “I always knew I could turn you ugly.”
Every week Akira follows Goro Akechi to a club—until finally, Akechi asks him to dance with no intention of letting go.

Summary
“You earned it, thief,” he clears his throat. “For taking me all the way up here. I know it’s important to you, so here it is—your treasure.”
They’re both quiet for a moment, nothing but the slight shimmer of water breaking the silence. And then, to his surprise, Akira just shakes his head, pushing the bag out of his way. “That’s quite alright, Goro. I already found what I was looking for.”

Summary
"Answer me,” he snaps harshly and it seems to work, because Akira finally looks at him, looking apologetic if not pleading.
“That’s because,” he replies somewhat reluctantly, fiddling with the stray lock of his fringe. “We’re, uh… we’re getting married.”
Sometimes to escape a madman's scheme, all you need to do is say two simple words - "I do."
