Summary
So technically, Pran has found a way to counteract all his worst-case scenarios. Just in case he happens to text Pat, which he won’t because these are just that: grand hypothetical scenarios made out of nothing but pure want. They are just hypotheticals.
Pran also knows that his resolve of not contacting Pat again is mere seconds away from crumbling. He knows that but refuses to acknowledge that. He just needs a little push; a push and he will go tumbling down the cliff, falling into the abyss yet again, despite knowing how it would end. He’d go through everything he has just on the off-chance of meeting Pat again.
OR: During the years that Pat and Pran are separated, Pran ends up contacting Pat by text. The heart wants, what it wants, after all.

It’s not like Pat having crushes is anything new, so what’s the difference? Why does it hurt so much this time? Is it because they’re in high school now, because they’ve grown, because there’s a real possibility now? Is it because a part of Pran has been foolishly clinging to the fact that all these years Pat has only had small silly crushes, but has never actually liked someone?
