Summary
Throughout the meeting, Amadeo would paw at Marius’ pant leg under the table, playfully knock their feet together. To be next to Marius but not feel him felt disrespectful: to his yearning, to his Master that had trained him for it. He wasn’t prepared for when Marius directly grabbed between his legs. Against all vampiric biology, warmth rushed to his face. He was so shocked by the touch he probably projected it to everyone in the room. But he should have expected that, with his incessant touching. He felt stupid for not expecting it.
If anyone in the congregation noticed, they did not draw attention to it. They carried on as Amadeo squirmed, powerless under his Master’s hold.

"You fell in the canal, remember?" The master's chest presses against Amadeo's spine, his skin warmer to the touch than Amadeo expected, like he's just fed. "You got drunk with Riccardo and you fell on the way home, my silly little darling."
He remembers now: green water, freezing cold. The slow descent, down and down, clouds of filth rising all around him. The boys had taught him how to swim, but instead of thrashing back to the surface Amadeo had dropped like a stone, limbs limp and clothes heavy. It had just been too beautiful down there, he hadn't wanted to leave.
__Amadeo takes ill after the canal incident, and Marius plays good nurse.
