Summary
Sumeru has changed so much since she broke free of her imprisonment. Observing its growth has been a wonderful thing, like seeing a sapling grow into a magnificent tree. Humans were truly fascinating in their ability to evolve and progress. The goddess of wisdom observed patiently as the world gained enough strength to stand on its own, without the help of an Archon. Slowly she and the others would fade, becoming more like myths and fairytales, but she found that she didn’t mind. She still has her sense of self, her intelligence, and time. Not to mention the other former Archons are still around for a cup of tea during holidays. The things she considers valuable are in her hands. Besides, even if she’s no longer an Archon, that doesn’t mean she can’t continue to observe.
Nahida and the Wanderer's lives as they stay together, watching Sumeru as two of its citizens.

After successfully obtaining the Electro Gnosis for himself, Scaramouche deserts the Fatui and flees from Inazuma. On his way to Sumeru, aware that the Fatui will soon come to dispose of him, he obscures himself within the wide plains of the Sumeru desert, at least until he establishes contact with the Doctor. There, he meets a strange desert boy with the most captivating green eyes he's ever seen.

Kinich slowly opened his eyes. “Who are you?”
The person leaning above him feigned offense. “I just saved your life, and you aren’t even going to say thank you?”
“Thank you,” Kinich sat up, “but you’re acting like we know each other. I’m not sure I’ve ever met you before.” He leaned back on his left hand and used his right to block the light from the setting sun.
“Just because we don’t know each other now doesn’t mean we can’t get to know each other.” The boy – Kinich assumes they’re a boy – above him stands up straight and holds out a hand, inviting Kinich to stand up.
“So then,” Kinich started, dusting off the onesie tied around his waist, “what is your name?”
“Lyney,” The boy bowed, taking off his hat, “and you are…?” He – Lyney, Kinich now knows – questioned as he lifted his head, setting the top-hat back down.
“Right…” Kinich mumbled under his breath.
Or, Aether takes a group of Natlan members to Fontaine for a month and Kinich is forced (willingly decides) to get to know a strange magician during his stay.
