“Excuse you,” she huffed. “But I also happen to have plenty of cans of Chef Boyarde.”
“Oh, I take it all back, then.” Ben said with a nod. “You’ll be dining in style, courtesy of the chef.”
Her lips twitched and he thought she might smile, but she didn’t. If anything, she looked a little sad. “Ben, really, I can’t. We don’t -” she looked up, her luminous eyes meeting his for a brief moment before she stabbed him in the heart. “We’re not even friends."
