    “Go to Caiyi with me.” Nie Mingjue couldn't tell whether it was an invitation or demand, though it was likely the latter.

    “You really haven’t changed.”

    Lan Wangji seemed to take utter offense to that, eyebrows furrowing ever-so-slightly. He opened his mouth to refute, but Nie Mingjue continued on. 

    “You’re still so cryptic. And bossy-”

    “I am not ‘bossy’.” 

    “Yeah?” Nie Mingjue laughed, missing the way Lan Wangji’s eyes seemed to brighten at the sound. “This is coming from the same Lan who forced me to carry him on his back, for a week, under the guise of ‘Lan tradition’?”

    Lan Wangji’s ears seemed to redden slightly at that. “I was six.”

    “Ah, you see?” Nie Mingjue wondered if he’d ever get bored of teasing him. “You were bossy from the start.”

    (Or Lan Wangji is trying to court an oblivious Nie Mingjue and Lan Wangji had a huge crush on him when they were younger--not much has changed.)

    Fudge is acting strange around him. He can't put his finger on it, though.
