Summary
They stood side-by-side at the stainless steel counter, looking at their respective cups. Then, as if guided by the same unseen thread, they each slowly raised their ice cream, holding it up next to the other’s face.
Mydei ’s tall, spiky swirl stood proudly next to Phainon’s grinning face, mirroring the energetic cowlick Phainon always sported.
Phainon ’s lower, sagging swirl sat beside Mydei’s head, a perfect replica of his own tiny, floppy tufts of hair.
A laugh burst out of Phainon first, bright and unrestrained, the nervous tension shattering into pure, delighted joy. Mydei’s shoulders shook, a quiet, deep chuckle escaping him, a rare sound that transformed his usually stern, composed features into something warm and breathtaking. For a moment, they just laughed, the sound echoing joyfully in the empty, wrecked cafe, all the day’s tension, all the years of unspoken longing, melting away like the ice cream in their hands.
Mydei and Phainon host a couple’s baking class for Valentine’s Day all while pining for each other.Valenphai's Dei Feb 14: Confession, baking, body worship, lingerie

Summary
Mydei steps closer to where the Deliverer is sitting and asks loudly, “What do you want?”
“Want?”
“For Valet-Valentine’s Day.” The word is still hard to pronounce on his tongue. “Is there anything you want other than chocolate?”
Phainon looks at him, mouth open and eyes glazed, "I guess if I have to pick something other than chocolates, can I have you?”
“I can arrange for it.”
Next to them, Castorice lets out an inhumane shriek Mydei chooses not to address.Or, Have you ever asked your rival-slash-friend-slash-crush what they want for Valentine's day and they answered "you"? No? Guess it's just Mydei... And he's not one to joke around about such things.

Summary
Mydei rolls his eyes toward Phainon, tugging on his shoulder. “Lean into me,” he says, ignoring the red flush staining Phainon’s cheeks.
“Sorry.” Phainon adjusts himself, obeying once again. “I just—I didn’t think you’d—”
Mydei narrows his eyes. “It’s just a photoshoot,” he says, as much for Phainon as for himself, because this is the thing of dreams. Of nightmares. Being this close to Phainon, pressed into him, breathing in natural scent of him, is almost too much. “Relax, Deliverer, or you’ll strain something, and then you won’t be able to spar with me tomorrow.”
Phainon and Mydei help Castorice with a photoshoot.

Summary
Mydei crosses his arms. “How are you of all people supposed to help me get through Christmas with my family?” he asks dryly.
Phainon’s brows lift. “Huh.” When he doesn’t elaborate, Mydei gives him a look. “Well,” he says. “It’s just that I think I have a similar problem. With family. And Christmas.” He grimaces. “If I don’t come home with a boyfriend, I think my mother will kill me.”
Mydei’s eyes narrow. “Did you tell Cipher that? She probably thinks we can help each other.”
Phainon’s scoffs. “How? By pretending to date each other?”
Tired of their families pressuring them about significant others at Christmas, Mydei and Phainon agree to pretend to date each other and then break up after the holidays. Things don't go as planned.

Summary
“As if I have any eye for art,” Mydei replies.
Castorice rolls her eyes. “As if plating isn’t just sculpture with food.”
He opens his mouth to fire back a snide rejoinder, realizes she’s right, and holds his tongue instead. No one knows how to deal with a widower’s pain and loss. No one wants to. But Castorice has faced even more death than he has, and she hasn’t let him pull away from the world despite his attempts.
