After a minute Derek looks back up, his lips puckering in thought, “so...we just...see each other in secret. Then in November after local elections we can see each other for real?”
“We are seeing each other for real! It’s just us who know about it for the first few months,” Stiles corrects.
“Okay.”
Stiles holds his breath, eyes widening, “okay as in okay let’s secretly date?”
“Yes,” Derek adds his tone a little less bitter as if he is just now warming up to the idea.
“Awsome! Holy shit, dude we’re mates,” Stiles beams.
Or the one where both Talia and John are running for mayor of Beacon Hills and their sons end up being mates. Enter a secret relationship, a dash of smut, and a way too involved Laura Hale.

‘’Stiles’’ The voice spoke a little stronger this time, the pitch a little rougher as the warm hand moved away from his neck and he was left alone. ‘’Can you hear me’’ The rough voice asked from closer this time as Stiles let his head turn slowly towards the sound.
‘’Mr. MChottie’’ Stiles grinned out, his voice slurred as his hand came up to touch against the stubbled jaw which was staring at him with a slight frown. ‘’are you going to kiss me again?’’ He asked.
‘’What...what...again’’
‘’Shhh...Scotty mustn’t know’’ Stiles giggled again as he moved to roll over, only to be stopped short by even warmer hands on his shoulders which he gasped at before moving back again.
‘’Uhh...Derek...what just happened?’’ A voice asked as Stiles blinked at him and Derek stared back unmoving before his head was turning to look towards Scott who was still staring between the two of them.

Summary
Born into a world of the supernatural and forced to segregate himself and his human peers from the supernatural creatures that inhabit Beacon Hills, Stiles grew up with the belief that integration was the key to a better life, thanks to his mother’s social work. Of course, that belief is only furthered by the mate mark he bears of his mate’s first words to him, something only supernatural creatures and their occasional human mates are supposed to have. Desperate to find his mate and carry on his mother’s work after her death, Stiles does everything in his power to unite his town, even if that means enduring dinners with Derek Hale, who hates him and refuses to speak to him. After a terse interaction, Derek finally speaks and the two realize they’re mates. Well, surely Stiles can still get his happy ending. Right?
