"That was really brave—what you did for your sister." Atsushi makes a new attempt at breaking the awkward silence between them.
"You don't have to play nice. I will kill you the moment I get the chance to in the arena," Akutagawa retorts coldly.
Atsushi lets out a dry laugh, trying to ease the tension in the air. "I can guarantee you, I won't hold back either. Still, it doesn't hurt to be friendly while we still can. No need to be so prickly." He raises his arms in a defensive gesture.

Akutagawa knows that his chances of winning the 74th Hunger Games as a scrawny, malnourished Tribute from District 12 are slim to none. Still—he will do everything in his power to win the Games and return to his younger sister Gin for whom he volunteered. What he doesn’t expect is to get caught up in a staged romance with his fellow Tribute, Atsushi Nakajima. It's a performance meant to win over sponsors, but soon the lines between what's act and what's real begin to blur.

Summary
Three years have passed since Akutagawa joined the Armed Detective Agency. Despite Atsushi managing to build some semblance of friendship with the ex-mafioso, the two are still constantly at each other's throats—always bickering, throwing insults. Until one day, in the heat of an argument, Atsushi impulsively kisses Akutagawa. And what begins as casual hookups quickly turns into something much more serious.
Navigating the fragile beginnings of a their relationship is one thing—but keeping it secret from their nosy colleagues is another matter entirely.
OR: Five times Atsushi and Akutagawa (more or less successfully) manage to hide their developing relationship from their colleagues, and one time they don't.
