Every time he came into proximity of Peter, he’d disregard him or barely even look at him long enough for them to hold a conversation. Sure, Peter’s always been terse especially with him but their relationship had started to develop into something more.

Robby struggles to keep his pining a secret as he agrees to be stuck in D.C. with his best friend for an entire weekend.

Summary
Growing up John didn't have many friends. There were a few reasons, he supposed. Some relationships were forced by his parents in order to make some financially beneficial partnership. Others fell apart after Bobby died and John's mother basically ignored his existed, her heartbreak too severe to care for her other son. Friendships he made later in life either ended because John's desperation to be accepted and pleasing to people scared them off or they found out about his family's fortune and tried to get a few (hundred, in some cases) dollars from him. As a favor, they said, but John knew that once people found out about his family's wealth, he was nothing more than a bank to them.
