Summary
Eddie opened his mouth, but nothing smart came out. His tongue felt too big for his mouth. He shrugged instead, tucked his hands into his pants pockets. “You always this forward?”
Buck swung one leg over the porch rail and hopped down, landing with a soft thud. He was close now. Not touching, but close enough that Eddie caught the scent of beer on his breath.
“Only when it works,” Buck raised his beer to take a sip, eyes never leaving Eddie. “Is it working?”
Or; Eddie Diaz replaces Kenny Roper in the Everybody Wants Some!! universe. Evan "Buck" Buckley is part of the fraternity throwing the party Eddie's team is going to. Eddie gets a taste of Buck 1.0.

Summary
“Listen, Eddie,” Buck's voice is small, and his head is dipped in submission, eyes locked on Eddie through his lashes. It's maddening to watch. “About last night… I'm really–”
Eddie has closed the space between them before he even fully realises, and then Buck's face is in his hands and he's kissing the stupid apology right out of his mouth.

Summary
“Chim just– told you to stay,” Buck says. “And you are. You’re staying. I don’t get it, Eddie. How could it have been so– easy?”
Something unreadable flickers across Eddie’s face, but it’s gone before Buck can identity it. “You never asked me to stay.”
A flare of bright hot anger sparks in Buck's chest. “I— I wanted you to choose something for yourself.”
“You could have asked.”

Summary
“I’m mortified, Eddie, I really thought Buck would have talked to you about it,” Maddie says. She looks genuinely regretful, her eyebrows pulling together with concern. “Obviously, he clarified things for me, told me that he wasn’t pining for his straight best friend, and I’m just…I’m so sorry. It wasn’t my place to speculate on your relationship like that.”
There must be a worm that’s wrapped itself around his thoughts — that’s constrained his neural pathways to just the thought of Buck’s in love with you — because something takes over Eddie’s mouth. Something entirely foreign and jarring prompts him to say with too much incredulity: “Buck said he wasn’t in love with me?”
Maddie gapes at him.
Eddie snaps his mouth shut with so much force his teeth click.
or: Maddie tells Eddie about the conversation she had with Buck. Eddie spirals about it.

Summary
“I don’t know how to talk about it,” Buck says, days later, in the quiet of the bedroom.
Eddie and Christopher have stuck around Los Angeles. Buck hasn’t asked, and Eddie hasn’t said anything, and Buck knows better than getting his hopes up. He hopes, regardless. Christopher has been sleeping on the couch, and without another bed or air mattress, Eddie has been sleeping in Buck’s bed. With Buck.
It’s been—fine. Kinda sucks, actually, because Buck’s been breaking into these huge, heaving sobs every night for the past three weeks, curling up in the center of his king-sized bed and letting his tears soak into the pillows. He isn’t able to do that with Eddie here, has swallowed down the tears and only let them out in the shower, tucking all the ugly pieces of his grief away. He’s been dealing with it, and trying not to bother others with it, but apparently he’s failed that, too.
Buck is tired of drowning under the weight of his own grief. Eddie is desperate to get him to talk about it.
